Making the Grade on Google

There can be some pretty scary and alarming results when you Google your name, even if the people in the results aren’t you. The false results can be especially damaging when applying for an internship or professional job and negative material pops up for potential employers to view. In fact, the online reputation management company Brand Yourself was created after one of the co-founders was denied multiple opportunities due to search results that yielded someone with the same name and a less than desirable online history. Now, Facebook offers an app that pairs with Google to “grade” your online presence and determine whether search results are helping or hindering you. The app allows you to select which results are “negative,” “positive,” or not related, then provides a score to share on your social media.
